Dogtur Visit Results

Me and Stanley went to see Dogtur Eddie today.  The good news is that we can start running but we can only do it on flat, no hills.  We wonder if there is such a place? The reason we cannot do hills is because of some other troubles.  The dogtur thinks my "skip" is because I have chronically strained my shoulders from chasing the ball (explosive motion) and then skidding on slippery floors.  He hopes in a couple months they will be back to normal. If not then he will take a picture.  I will just tell him mom already has 87 million pictures so use one of hers.  Right now he said it is sore and inflamed and that I don't even fully extend my front legs!  But in the meantime I cannot play with my ball AT ALL!  He said, "Three months - no ball!"  I cried when he said that.

Stanley has troubles too, worse than mine.  His knees pop out really easy (he has bad tracks).  The dogtur said eventually he might need an operation on his knees!  He also said this situation makes him susceptible to ACL (or some other letters like that) problems. "But we are just pups I shouted!"  Then the dogtur said if we stay lean and take a pill for our joints it will really help.  He also said we should swim a lot. So that is what we will do . . . run . . . swim . . . take pills . . . no ball.

Stanley's bad tracks.

You boys better listen to Dr. Eddie. He is the best! Did you tell him I said hi? I know the ball thing will be tough, but just think how much more "explosive" you will be when you are 100%. Blows the mind doesn't it?

Goose

Oh...my...dog...NO BALL?! How on earth is a ball fiend to survive without a ball?! Oh the horrors!! :-/ But, if it means that you can run up hills and play with balls for hours on end...urg...then I guess stopping ball for a couple of months isn't as bad as it could be! :-(

Ah Stanley...well, I hate to say it, "welcome to the bad knee club". However, it might turn around too. I have bad knees after all and with a couple of months R&R, well look at me now, agility and everything! :-)

Plus you guys love swimming, so that ain't too bad of a treatment, huh?! :-D You will both survive and come out ahead of the game! Start warming up for running!!

Boy my little friends, do I know what your talkin about. I don't get to play ball either but that is because I eat them, not because I hurt my knees.

We love Dr. Eddie too, he is the very best doctor for us.

So no ball, no running an skidding, but I heard the word "Swimming" You know I can help you with that.

My Lily skips, our neighbors dog skips and 1/2 the pups we know skip. Hip dysphasia or in my Lily's case the knee was popping out of the joint. And would pop back in. My Lily already had an operation on one knee (mom is still paying) but many of our friends never had surgery and just keep skipping

Awwwww your poor guys! I'm so sorry to hear about all of your troubles! I hope that you both can get better soon! My Big Furiend Ernie had a knee operation on his ACL and he is good as new now!
I'm glad you can both run with your Pawrents alongside the bike on the flat and thats fun that you can swim, I really enjoy swimming! I'm not a big ball chaser so I wouldnt mind no ball games, but no tug rope would make me sad!
I've got the Dogtors tomorrow for my annual check up so will let you know what they say about ME!
Love and Licks from your furiend Frank xxxxxx

Welcome to the bad joints club!! :) Riley has had two knee surgeries for torn ACL's. No fun. They require 8 weeks of crate rest, so take it easy and listen to the dogtor so you never have to do that! Sorry you can't play ball for 3 months...that stinks!

Congrats on passing the CGC, by the way!! :)

Wow no ball...maggie often slides and slips across the floor chasing her binkie and throwing it up in the air, i don't know what she would do without that...as far as swimming well we would drown but i bet your momma can show you how to do that and i hear it is great exercise....follow your dr's rules and you will be running around in no time...p.s. we need a dr. eddie here...we only have dr. frankenvet.

Sorry to hear about the NO Ball rule!! Glad you can run with your peeps though, even if it has to be on the flat stuff. Gracie has the issue with her knees too, although she is older...I've been doing some research on ACl injuries on line and found this knee brace for dogs. Sounds interesting and you may just want to keep it in your reference library. You can read about it at www.muttkneebrace.com Thinking of trying it for Gracie. Happy running!!

Murray had a knee issue once. We were lucky it was just pulled and some pain meds and rest did the trick. Hope you recover fast and easily, Doods!

Hey Guys!
Wow, I'm so sorry you had to see your dogtor! That stinks. Well, at least he has a plan to help you get all better, so I'd go along with what needs done. It will be worth it in the long run. Anyway, no ball is really hard, but I can tell you that some good swimmie time is EXCELLENT FUN! You'll love that part! Healing vibes headed out to you both!
