2016 Retreat

First I'm gonna show you a picture of me taking a nap after my run on Friday . . .

I was really tired.

OK, now the update on the 2016 Retreat.  First of all, we are still in the early stages BUTT there are a few things that have already become apparent so I will tell you what we know right now.  Here are the blogs interested (to varying degrees) in a retreat:

Tails Around the Ranch
Madi
Idaho Pugs
Dory
Oreo
Poodle At Play
Army of Four
Casey
Abby Lab @ Book of Barkley
Sprinkles
Finn
Yam Aunty
Ruby (Daily Pip)
Oz
Ruby & Otto at Rottrover
Barking at the Bayou
Cookie's Comments
leesarge
Maddie the Pug (Military Pug Wife)
Millie & Walter
KB Bear - close
OP Pack
Cowspots
Hailey & Phod
Mara
Bertie - EU
Leah - EU
Charlie - Aussie
Cara & Crew

We had quite a number of you who were interested in a more regional retreat, meaning you did not want to travel far.  And there were some others (like mom) who are interested in meeting in the furs even if it is not nearby.  So . . .

For those who want a regional retreat you will need to tell us what state/country you are in (you can leave it in comments) so we can put you in touch with others who are nearby.  And this other thing is the most impawtent part so listen carefully . . . someone needs to volunteer to host or coordinate that particular regional meeting.  Without someone volunteering to do that, the REGIONAL retreat will NOT happen.  Then we will forward the names of the others in the same region to the person who is hosting.  We will help advertise your regional meeting as well as refer any latecomers to you for inclusion.

For those of you willing to travel or lucky enough to live in the right spot, that is the one we will coordinate along with Oreo, Dory & Madi.  We will call it the 2016 National Retreat.  We have an initial time frame of mid to late June.  We have NOT tied down the location yet because we need more information on available hotels, RV parks, dog friendly events, etc. but it is LIKELY to be in Indiana somewhere.  We need a person close to the place who might be familiar with available options and willing to do footwork.  So for those reasons we have not made a final decision YET.

So as you can see, we still have lots of work ahead of us.  We will pin down date and location as soon as we can.  So in the meantime, we want to know who would LIKELY travel to the 2016 NATIONAL Retreat?  We need to know how large of a group we'd LIKELY be looking at.  Also let us know if you would be bringing a spouse, doggies, or an RV.  You can leave it in comments or email us at cecampbell[AT]msn[DOT]com.
Thanks to Dory & mom for the badge!  OK to copy badge & post.

Wow, this is exciting! We live in the Chicago area and could definitely make it to Indiana. Here's one thing I thought of - the Blogpaws Conference is in Arizona from June 23-26. I would be careful about scheduling the retreat too close to the conference because there might be some crossover. I went to Blogpaws this year and LOVED IT and hope to go again next year. I wouldn't want anyone to have to choose one event or the other. Just a thought ...

We live in the Western suburbs of Chicago. Whether we could travel to a National meeting would depends on whether I have any vacation days. With 4 serious illnesses and 2 deaths in the family over the last 4 years, I've used all of my leave of all kinds plus some future leave traveling back an forth to care to provide help and support out West. It sounds like SO much fun though!. LB Abby Lab's Mom

EXCITING!!! Just spent half an hour lost in Google maps!!! Okay... sensible head on YAM...

Being EU-based I would enjoy being part of anything which happens this side of the big pond also. Being in background contact with the two bloggers mentioned above in this region we might be able to cook something up between us....

The focus here though is Indiana and I think that looks like a goodly place... for me it will be a matter of budgeting, but I am already planning! I may incorporate trips to other parts as have connections in Canada... this could be the incentive I need to get organised!

That means I am a 'tentatively firm yes' &*> Hugs and wags, YAM-aunty xxx

Indiana could be something we could do. Lee is not allowed to fly with her Vestibular neuritis inner ear problem ~ well Lee is not allowed to do a lot of things and life kind of sucks but we still have hope. Who knows what next year might bring.

Momma says that we will try very hard to go, but it will depend on work schedules and the ultimate location. If she does, it'll be her and us two pups. We'd like an area with a hotel -- Momma does NOT camp, BOL!!

This sounds like so much fun! Can't wait to hear more!

I left a response at Dory's Backyard -- mum and I are definitely interested, but as she said there, it depends on wheelchair accessible transportation. Is anyone else from the Tucson, AZ area interested in going?????

Traveling with three dogs is not my idea of pleasure. Sidney cries the whole time he is in the car. He also has a fear of large dogs. We have limited visits to the dog park because of him and there are four within four miles.

We aren't sure about long-distance travel, but regional for sure! We're in Kansas, right by the Kansas Ocean.

As much as we would love to attend, it would be unlikely that we could make that long of a trip.
The peeps will not be retired yet (by end of 2016 hopefully) so 1600 miles is not feasible to drive.
And I reminded mom that next year mid June we will be entered in my first Obedience'Rally trial

Eventhough it sounds super pawsome, Mommy hates traveling, so we won't be able to attend.

Is it possible to create a Blogville "Wish we were there" Photo Collage, so all those in Blogville who wanted to attend, can still have their picture on the cardboard display and be in the background of some of the reunion pictures that other's post on their blogs?

Indiana...Mom seems to think it could be done! :) As for regional, she's quite interested in that as well! It's no secret we live in Pa/Nj!

Wahoovies!!!! We are sooooo looking forward to being there!!! We are also VERY into hotels....something about Mama getting all the camping out of her system before she hit 50...

Mama also says we will also host a Regional Get together for our friends in the Pacific Northwest in either early June(before the NBR) or early July (after the NBR)! More on that soon :-).

We look forward to finding out more about this before me commit. We know there aren't other bloggers really around us to do a regional retreat with. If in the end we can't come, we will be there in spirit.

This sounds wonderful and so fun! Great job on organizing it.
As for your mom's arm-I would try putting ice on it. When I've had tetanus, they always say to move it around and work the muscle. I'm sorry the nurse gave you the shot in the wrong place. It should be better in a day or so.

Wow! We are in NY and we would be willing to assist with coordinating it. We would like another person in our area to help with the coordination. If there's no one else from the Northeast, we would consider it, but it would probably take a lot of milkbones! I don't think we would be able to do a drive to Indiana for a national retreat.

Wow,, its going to be a big , big event!

The National Event sounds like fun! we are a bit tentative still, but will definitely have our mom mark off mid to late June on her work calendar to be sure she schedules stuff around this time. It would just be her and maybe Wriggley or ? Something regional would be fun too. We are in California. purrs,

This sounds like a great idea but we don't travel well. Might be able to do something if it takes place in New England.

OMD!!! Murphy, I hopes you are dreamin' of MOI !!!!! I knows I will be dreamin' of you!!!!! All ManTastic on your big TRACTOR WHEEL!!! ☺ I will be howlin' up at the stars tonight just for you my Stud Muffin!!! Oh, guess what??? Ma sprained her ankle yesterday!!!! BOL!!! Okays, it's not so funny cause she couldn't take me for a walkie today...not funny at all!!!
Anyhu, You knows what I thinks you should do for those of us that can't make it to the retreat? I thinks we can make cardboard cutouts of ourselves to join you at the retreat! We can call them 'Flat Ruby' or who ever the blogger is! Okays, NOT my idea, it came from another blogger who doesn't blog anymore from years back. He sent his Flat Henry all over the world to visit bloggers in their home towns! So I thinks we can do the same for those who can't make it. Oh, and mine will have a margarita with it, OF COURSE!!! hehehehe
Let me know how you likes the idea, and I can look into the best way to make them sturdy and portable!
Kisses,

We are down in Louisiana so I think a trip to Indiana would be too far. : ( I was hoping for Colorado or somewhere drivable since the boys can't fly. Anyway, are there any Blogvillians around here? We will be in Phoenix on June 23-25, 2016 for the BlogPaws conference.
