On May 13, 2012, exactly 3 years ago tomorrow, me and Stanley were little, tiny puppy dogs. We were barely over 3 months old! We were just starting to learn all about the world and how to be a dog! We didn't know Goose yet, it would be another month before we met him in the furs, but he already had made a big influence on our lives.
First, it was cuz of his relationship with his mom that our pawrents decided the heartache of losing a dog was worth the risk cuz of the wonderful and unconditional love we give. That was how our pawrents decided they would love another dog again, But then they found out that 2 is better than 1 BOL!
Goose knew about us right away and was waiting for us to finish vaccinations so he could meet us in the furs. So during that time, Goose sent us a lesson. He and his mom, along with Bert and Miss Vickie, went hiking. On the hike they found sticks that REAL beavers had been chewing. So Goose knew we needed to learn about sticks so he brought one home for his mom to give us. He even had her put a ribbon on it cuz it was special! So our mom gave us the stick from Goose and we understood the lesson right away. You can see we were eager students!
We really ripped into that stick! BUTT the thing we didn't understand was that we weren't supposed to swallow the slivers of wood. So mom had to take it away and put it up. When we finally met Goose in the furs a month later, we thanked him for the stick and he said he was proud of us. Well, actually his exact words might have been for us to stop jumping on his face but we knew what he meant.
So after Goose flew into heaven yesterday, on May 11 (notice the double sticks), we wanted to do something special in his memory. We reminded mom that she had saved the stick all this time so she got it out.
It smelled extra good, aging those 3 years made all the difference.
We each picked an end, just like when we were little. I got the end that had the REAL beaver teeth marks!
OK, that might not have been the best idea. You ever tasted aged beaver spit? But the thing we wanted to say was thanks to Goose and his mom for the impact they had on our lives. We know Goose had a paw in many lives and bringing about impawtent changes for both hoomans and doggies. And as mom says, "it just doesn't get any better than that". Goose himself, who some stoopid person might say was "just a dog", really did make this world a better place. So we hope everyone will raise a stick for Goose and a life well lived.
Goose, the dog who left his paw prints all over the world!
