A good reason to train your pups is so that they can more fully pawticipate in family life and more easily be taken to public places. Our pawrents started our training when we were very young. As soon as our vaccinations were all done, we started attending PSU (Pet Smart University) cuz our pawrents said we were gonna be social doggies!
Our pawrents exposed us to everything they could find. Loud noises, lots of people and general commotion were just some of the things they sought out so we would not be scared when we were man-dogs.
So when we were just 6 months old they decided we were ready for our first LONG ride in the truck. We went on vacation to Northern California!
We learned all about oceans!
We explored beaches!
We learned about waves and salt water!
We learned that driftwood was fun!
We learned that digging in the sand is a blast!
We learned about hiking and giant redwood trees!
And we practiced posing - everywhere!
Mom and dad say we are great travelers and they are blessed to be able to take us with them. We just think we're lucky to explore so many new places! So far we have been to 12 states: Utah, Idaho, Oregon, California, Nevada, Arizona, Wyoming, Nebraska, Iowa, Indiana, South Dakota, and Illinois. Pretty soon (next month) we're gonna add Washington to the list too!
So next time your pawrents talk to you about school, it might be a good idea to go!

That's great that you can do that. I've just been to three states but I'm kind of a couch potato dog so that's OK.

Gosh those photos on the beach in Northern California are just gorgeous! And Doodz I totally second all your comments about the benefits of a good education. . Although Gail does say that my first night at puppy class was the closest she has ever come to a nervous breakdown and I was so badly behaved she nearly sent me back to my breeder...
But as for now, well I don't want to get competitive or anything, but I would like to point out that I have travelled extensively by car, train, ferry and bus and I have been to four different countries (Switzerland, Germany, Italy and Holland) in addition to my homeland. I would love to come to the USA and especially to visit the beaches on the West Coast, but Gail says I would not like the long plane journey. Boo hoo.
Toodle pip!

That's a great foundation. We are not very good around strangers...Dui is positively a jerk when with the pack. SHE'd like to take us out in public more often, but says we're unpredictable.
You guys are living the good life!
Momma says an ocean trip might be in my future (if she are lucky enuf to get to go on one!)
That is so true. That early socialization is a major plus to getting your dog as a puppy. Plus, they're so cute! I love all those photos from that first beach trip!
Your parents did a great job raising you and now you can fully enjoy life.
your pawrents got you off to a great start and you are such wonderful doggies!

OMD! You are going to LOVE Washington. Y'all were the cutest little Doods EVER! ♥
I went to school early too. Was da star puppy and youngest in my class.
However, I am a Scottie and we Scots are a bit stubborn and like make up my own rules. I know lots of commands but I only respond to dem if I really feel like it.
You guys are much more well behaved dan I am.
Enjoy your travels.

you are the bestest traveler doods ever! and I hope I become a good travel-weim too... the mama said I bee-hived better on the streets or pawris than at home... is that a compliment? yes...;O)))

Hear! Hear! Travel is an education itself, but knowing how to behave when out and about certainly adds to the enjoyment!!! Hugs and wags YAM-aunty xxx
That is great advice. You two sure were a couple of cuties...not that you aren't still of course.
That is awesome! We are very well socialized, too. Mom and Dad love being able to take us places - and we love the adventure and getting lots of attention from the people we meet!
Yours sincerely,
Margaret Thatcher
Boy, you guys are like tour guys with all the places you've been to! Nice job.
Nooooooooooooooooooow we know where you learned to love digging too!!!
Hugs madi your bfff
Sophie went to school. She learned nothing. She did get a participation diploma. it is not worth the paper on which it is printed. I don't think that she knows her name after almost 3 years. Sid and Shelby have more knowledge. It is hard to travel with three thick headed Scotties by myself.
But you didn't have to learn how to conjugate French verbs though? Because what you learned sounds a lot better than that!! But I think your teacher and your two-leggers are clever people. And you are very clever dogs for listening so well.

PS: did you find something nice when digging at the beach?

Yup, the more you do, the more you're comfortable doing! Your pawrents definitely had the right idea!
