So this is what happened . . . When mom very first comes out the door to throw the ball for me, Stanley is all excited and he tries to get to it before me so he can stop me from playing fetch.
Here we both make a dash for the ball.
Seeing that Stanley is closer, I leap towards it.
I recall how the baseball players slide into home and I give it my best shot.
I throw my body over Wilson to protect him from Stanley's sharp teeth!
Apparently Stanley had the same idea . . .
The early dog gets the ball.
