Decisions, Decisions . . .

Some days Stanley just can't decide.  Should he sit or should he stand?

The Hike

As I told you yesterday, mom and dad took off on a hike without me and Stanley yesterday.  It was SUPPOSED to be a 16 mile hike (see yesterday's post).
The trail is rated difficult, it has some tough parts but mom says the length is the hardest part.
Mom said it didn't take too long before they knew the odds of getting wet were pretty good.
But mom and dad weren't too worried, they had rain gear with them.
Their big concern was lightening.  Mom called that a deal breaker.
Luckily there never was lightning but there was rain and wind.  Not everyone in the group was prepared for it to be cold and wet.
There were lots of wildflowers in bloom.
There is a great view from that high!
Sometimes the trail is "clean", other times there is a lot of plants along the sides.  Mom says the worst parts have lots of rocks.
The destination!  Unfortunately, they had to turn back 2 miles before getting to the peak.  The wind and rain got too bad to continue (and they didn't know if it was going to get even worse).  But mom said it was 11.5 miles and they got dirty and muddy and had fun anyway.  It would have been pawfect for me and Stanley!!

Mom at end of hike. I missed her a lot and she missed us like crazy too.
Anyway, we hope mom and dad learned their lesson and take us next time!

Not Fair!

The MOST unfair thing is happening today!  Mom and Dad are going on a hike and me and Stanley have to stay home!  Mom said it was too far for us to go and we would poop out.  You see, we live in the foothill area of the Rocky Mountain Wasatch Range, specifically below Ben Lomond Peak.  So they are hiking with some people (friends from church) to the peak of Ben Lomond.
This is where they begin hiking, at the trailhead.
If I had some binoculars, I could see them hiking from my barking chair in the Piano Room!
They will hike to the peak, have lunch, then hike back.

Mom said we cannot hike 16 miles (25.7K).  Me and Stanley think that is not fair and mom and dad are too old to go that far anyway.  Mom said she would take some pictures and I could post them tomorrow.

Agility Course

Me and Stanley do our best to stay fit. So we like to go through our ability course. Mom says it is still a work in progress but we love it!
We don't have much "usable" space in our yard.
Murphy goes through agility poles.

Doodle Pose

Me and Stanley often sleep in the "Doodle Pose". We were wondering if anyone else sleeps like this or if it is unique to Doodles?

Holiday Here

Today is a big holiday in the State of Utah.  There are parades and ever'thing!  Mom gets irritated cuz she says the state holiday is so big (it lasts almost a week with the rodeo and all) that the 4th of July celebration dulls in comparison.  So in support of mom, we're wearing our 4th of July bandannas.

After we took that photo and Stanley saw how handsome we were, he said he wanted to become a professional dog model.  He is going to send his photo to Oprah cuz if anyone can make it happen she can.

We'll let you know what happens . . .

Congrats!

Now we're waiting to hear what the baby's name is going to be.  We're hoping for Prince Murphy.  We think that sounds very Royal!

Take Your Dog To Church

Yesterday we went to church with our pawrents.  The 3rd week of the month is the Sunday we get to go to church.  We have gone to church ever since we were tiny puppies.  So like any regular church goer, we know the order of things.  First things first, we arrive early so we can attack Goose's mom.  She likes it when we do this and we like it too.

Stanley is a bit enthusiastic.
I get in on the action too.  Every pic mom took was blurry because we are pretty frenzied at this point and Goose's mom doesn't make us act like the gentle Doods we are.
We think the windows in the sanctuary are beautiful.  One day we would like windows like this in the Doodle Clubhouse.
The band was in good form.  Stanley sang through most of the first song.
I'm well behaved and sit nicely in the pew. (This was actually before most people and dogs arrived.)
Stanley likes to greet the other dogs.  Notice we wore our western bandanas because Utah has a big holiday this week and Pioneer Days are a big deal.
Pretty soon it was time for Goose's mom to preach.  She taught us about Mary and Martha and that we need to play with Jesus.

We also had dancers!  They danced to a song and it was BEAUTIFUL!
Their capes made them look like winged angels!
I might have dozed a bit but I think I was just listening and praying real hard.
Some other dogs were there too.  We didn't get pictures of them all.
This was a new dog.  We never met him before but he was real nice.
Cole (or it might be Coal), is a regular member.  She is very nice.

We love going to church and wish every dog could go to church too!

We're Home!

We're home!  We got home on Friday.  It was a wonderful vacation and we got to do lots of fun stuffs.  But we sure missed our home!
Me and Stanley couldn't wait until we could run around in our back yard again.  Even though our pawrents took us to dog parks we just can't play as good as we can at home!
We missed our Dogwood bush.  We like to run around it and hide in it.
And we went a long time without a good wrestling match!
I like to hide from Stanley and then sneak up on him.  Do you see me?
I even helped Dad collect the poops.  He loves our poops!

And today is a special day because it's Bring Your Dog To Church day!  We always have a bath before we go to church!  We can't wait to see Goose's mom (and she lets us attack her too)!
I was making sure Dad washed behind Stanley's ears.

Oregon is a wonderful place for a vacation.  We got to go everywhere with our pawrents (except the Unfair Grounds!!!).  Mom says we're "easy riders".  We got to do new things and meet new friends.  But we did miss you Blogville!
