Dad Got Hit

Yesterday our pawrents went for a long run without us.  Mom said later she was VERY glad we were NOT with them!

Mom and dad were running uphill.  Dad was running (east) in a crosswalk and mom was a few car lengths behind him.   Mom was looking down and heard a loud noise so she looked up just in time to see dad fall to the ground

A car facing south was making a right turn.  The driver was looking to her left (east) and did not look to her right before pulling out to make her right turn.  If she had looked, she would have seen dad.

Mom called 9-1-1 and 4 police cars came.

An ambulance & paramedics came too.  They patched up dad's bleeding elbow.

This picture was taken when they got home.

This is the driver who hit dad.

Mom says the way this accident happened is a very common thing for drivers to do.  Looking left for an opening in traffic and then pulling out without looking to their right where they don't expect anyone to be.  Please, please, please be a cautious and defensive driver!

Pee Ess - Dad is feeling good today (with abrasions).  A live stream is on mom's Facebook page but she can't get it copied off from Facebook so you have to go there to see it (and send a friend request since it isn't public).

OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH No Doodz...we are beyond sorry and we were so very scared when we read this. Goodness gracious what freak accident and I hope and Pray everyone driving learned a good lesson.
We are so thankful your sweet Daddy doesn't have anything broken and we hope and purr his elbow won't give him too much trouble or hurt too long.
Please tell him I, Madison with the potent kitty slobber am sending him a ton of feline slobber and mom is sending him hugs and OMCs Dad sending sympathy. He fell off a ladder (no longer allowed on any ladder over 5') while cleaning our gutters he broke his (H)ELLbow!!
Hugs madi and mom and dad

Wow! That sounds scary. We hope your dad feels better soon and are so glad that the worst of it was a scraped elbow. It's a good thing you Doods weren't with them. We are crossing our paws for your dad.

Oooooo that was nasty. Glad Dad wasn't more seriously hurt....though that arm is going to be painful for awhile. Give him lots of cuddles. (Can he throw Wilson with his other arm?)

So very sorry your dad was hit; when I was a young girl, I was in a crosswalk and an elderly lady hit my bike-she didn't know why the other cars were stopped. A good reminder for all of us. Hope he heals soon.
Happy New Year.

OH dear, that is too bad for your Dad. But it could have been so much worse. We are glad that he has been patched up and is doing OK. Mom remembers that same situation from years and years ago about two weeks before her and Dad's wedding. They were out riding bikes and the car didn't look both ways either and hit Mom. It was a "gentle" hit but she had a massive bruise on her thigh that was really ugly looking and sore.

We hope that Dad will be perfectly fine soon and that nothing like that ever happens again.

My momma saw it on FB - so glad he are ok!

My momma says she got tapped years ago while walking Whitley - nuffin major, but it did hurt.

Oh no! That is terrible news! We hope Dad feels better soon! Sometimes things like that hurt more after a couple days when the swelling sets in. Put some ice on it several times a day. Hope you have a Happy New Year anyway!

Oh, my gosh. We are very happy that your Daddy was not badly hurt and that you were not with them. Those self driving cars can't come fast enough. Wishing you all the best and sending prayers

OMG.....So glad to hear that Dad is OK. We were witness to that very same thing years ago so we know how easy it can happen......but it still shouldn't happen. Hugs to your pawrents...

I am so glad that your dad is okay. That is such a common driver error. We loved the "Car Talk" guys. When I'm making a R turn, I always hear their voices saying to look in the direction that you're moving. Great advice. I wish that the bad drive who hit your dad had been a car talk listener. Then it might not have happened.
