Mum and I live in Tucson, AZ and, with help from other bloggeers in the area) would really LUV LUV LUV to arrange for a BAR here in AZ. If we do not get enuf responses, I am going to try to come to the main one, but it would be MUCH easier locally.
By the way, Guy, will the location be wheelchair accessible? If not, I definitely will NOT beable to come (booooo hoooooo hooooooo).
So, anyone interested in having BAR here in the southwest, let me know. I will be posting onn my blog (cookiescomments1941.blogspot.com)
We don't think that we can convince mom to drive that far with three Scotties. You have nothing planned for the south. We will keep checking to see if there is something closer to home. Sidney is a horrible traveler. He cries the whole time in the car.
We would have to check it out for sure but I would think that it is. The community stuff will take place at one of the shelters and those are typically right off a parking lot. If you click on the link you'll see a phone number to call so you can ask them directly about accessibility. That way you could discuss your exact needs with them. There will be dog walks that might not be wheelchair accessible though. Since we are doing this remotely it would be best for you to discuss with the park directly.
None of the cabins or lodges in the parks allow dogs. Just talked to the Abe Martin Lodge to get a reservation. 877-563-4371 They said just the camp grounds and only some of them allow dogs. Since I don't have a camper where are ones like us suppose to stay??? Now if we could have chosen Shaker Village in Kentucky they now allow pets in three of their buildings and you can walk the entire place with pets on a leash. http://shakervillageky.org/shop/ Sweet William The Scot
Is everyone who is coming have campers are coming without their pets?? I am checking Bed & Breakfast Inns in Nashville, IN. Looking like for us it might possibly be a three hour drive over and a three hour drive home as a one day thing. Hampton Inn's have dog rooms in Bloomington past park but that is next to Memorial Stadium University and a busy college scene and that is a bummer for SWTS. SWTS
I only found one B&B on Fido Pet Friendly Hotels. $25 extra a night per dog. Hotel: Always Inn Brown County Bed & Breakfast 8072 E SR 46 Nashville, IN, 47448 Guests: 2 Adults, 0 Children, 1 Dog Rooms: 1 Room for 2 nights Check-in: Fri, June 10, 2016 Check-out: Sun, June 12, 2016 Nightly Rate: June 10: $180.52 June 11: $180.52 Average Nightly Rate: $180.52 Room Subtotal: $361.04 Hotel Taxes & Fees: $43.32 for a GRAND TOTAL: $404.36 + pet fee
I'm THINKING WAY TO EXPENSIVE FOR THE AREA THAT HAS FEW amenities other than a State Park. SWTS
Beth has already found a few that allow pets with no additional charge. We will be posting links in a few weeks. To answer an earlier question, I assume most will be in hotels.
Yes, I saw which blog you are associated with so please do not post under this alternate identity and pretend you are someone you are not. If you do not like or agree with the BAR at least do not hide behind another alias. I do not appreciate you spreading negativity, slanted and wrong information.
I don't know who you think I am. But you are surely mistaken as I sign under my dogs name just like you do.I have left comments at numerous blogs. I am not using an alias and I am not spreading anything that is not true. I was there about a month ago with JoeJoe and I was given a ticket for not having the proper length of leash on a trail. They said I could not use an extendable and it has to be a 6 FT leash. I did not know this before hand and I thought everyone should know this so that they are not given a ticket as I was. This is the website that states the park rules:
Dogs and cats must be kept on a leash no longer than six feet and attended at all times. I am just trying to be helpful what is wrong with that. Big Joe
Against my better judgement I am not going to delete this comment because I want to address the issue you raised. However, please know that all future comments will be deleted without exception.
First of all, I do know who you are and that is why I am deleting comments. Although I am tempted to email you directly I know you well enough to know you will deny it and they around and around it goes. So I chose to delete the comments. I feel like as bloggers we have represented ourselves in a certain manner, even though we speak through the voices of our dogs and cats. However, any statement we say is backed up behind the human typing the words. Since you have decided to create this alternate ID and hide behind it that does give you free reign to say anything you want or lash out without any repercussions of the greater Blogville community. I find this deceitful and want no part of it. It is cowardly to hide behind an alternate identity that is not known to the community. Now having said that, I half expect you to come out as your real identity and vouch for your alternate identity. As the saying goes, not my monkey, not my circus so you will have to find other ways to amuse yourself.
Now concerning the issues and warnings, I would expect everyone should be aware of the rules. As dog owners we routinely encounter these same rules just about everywhere we go. If you broke the rules you deserved a ticket. I am not aware of any public place that allows greater than a 6 foot leash. So I'm not sure why you were so alarmed. Additionally, you freaked out about the price of accommodations. We have many who already have their reservations and have only paid $50-55. Why are you trying to needlessly alarm people? And of course hotels have rules for dogs. They don't want their rooms damaged or destroyed. I think the problem here is that you have some sort of expectation of being accommodated at the expense of others.
Now speaking of expectations, are you expecting that the BAR is supposed to be some sort of vacation or total entertainment package? If so you will be VERY disappointed. It is a gathering of friends who want to meet in person and get to know one another better. Period. That is it! Yes, we are planning some things so help assure people interact and make it easier for them to get to know each other and to have fun. But if you are expecting some fort of entertainment package that has never been nor will be the intent.
I have only replied to you because on one hand I feel empathy for you. I think you are a lonely and unhappy person who is also dealing with some mental health issues. I assure you that you can reap the benefits of this community only if you are your genuine authentic self and treat people as you want to be treated, Now that I am sure I have totally pissed you off (and I have seen your wrath), please refrain from posting on this blog or the BAR blog under this assumed identity. And please do NOT try and use your real identity to support the assumed identity.

We're going to offer links to several options for camping, hotels and RV's. Probably will have that info in a couple weeks.

No, our southern furends have been kind of quiet. We have lots of bloggers in the Texas area so maybe they might want to do something.
