Buffalo

There are lots and lots of buffalos at Custer State Park!

The buffalos keep walking as they graze so they are almost always on the move.

We saw many calves too!

This was a funny one cuz the mom was rubbing back and forth on a big rock, scratching her belly.

This guy posed nicely.

Traffic is often stopped for buffalo crossing the road.  One big guy sniffed our truck and Stanley barked at him.  While the vehicles were backed up, one was pulling horses in a trailer and the horses started stomping in the trailer.  This caused the buffalo to run away, like a stampede!  It was like thunder!

They look so soft! At least the one that posed nicely does. Were you afraid of them at all??

Did you bark. When lady visited that part of the world her sister was twelve and was scared of the buffalo!

You are. Ringing back so many memories for me! My mother, grandmother and I visited here too! I have some very similar pictures! I can't believe it's been just about 30 years since that trip. Both my grandmother and my uncle are gone now, but we had a wonderful time in that vacation. My uncle was a park ranger at Mt Rushmore and Jewel Cave. Did you visit Jewel Cave? And the Needles highway?

How exciting...while you're in the car. We sometimes have to stop for cows or sheep on the road. We would have stared at them. You are very brave to bark.

That sounds like a very cool sight. I love how the horses stomping started a stampede (but Stanley barking didn't ;)
