Home Again!

We got home yesterday afternoon, safe and sound.  Unfortunately, while we were gone somebody hit our brick mailbox!  But we were lucky for two reasons.  First, my human brother Shane was the one who built it.  Usually when these mailboxes get hit the bricks shatter to the ground.  But he made this one strong.  Although it is no longer structurally sound and has cracks and will need big repairs, it is still standing.  Oh, and it did a lot of damage to the truck that hit it.  Yes, we KNOW because the man came by and told us he hit it!  He said his cell phone rang and he wanted to be safe so he pulled over and hit our mailbox before answering the phone.  Mom says it is a good thing he did not try to talk and drive!  But we were glad he came over and gave us his insurance information.

We had lots of fun on our GOTCHA vacation and will have to post more photos later.  Mom says she is VERY busy today getting things "back to normal" and  there is another thing . . . it's Dad's Birfday today!  Yep, no April Fool joke, today is his birfday!  So I will just have to leave you this photo . . .

  6. Before I read the part about you found out who hit the mailbox because he came by, I was thinking "bet that did a good amount of damage to the person's car!" Good thing the brick mason is in the family, huh? :) That was really nice that the guy came by and told you what happened and gave you his insurance info. Thank God he didn't hit another car or a dog or child that was out walking.

Not sure where you were in that picture, but the scenery is breathtaking! (Riley always likes to find the one puddle out on the trail, too).

Happy Birthday to your dad!! Hope you Doods spoil him today!

  8. Nice to know there are still people who own up to their responsibilities.... Our young cousin once drove through someone's lawn and hit their barrels of flowers, then tried to get away. Unfortunately, for her, she left the license plate on the lawn....Bwahaahaa! Busted! Her parents made her pay for the damage.

Happy Birthday to your Dad! Hope he shares his cake and ice cream with you.

  16. Happy Birthday to your Daddy! Your story reminds Momma of a neighbor we usta have dat just got a new Suburban... she was driving it and dropped her Tab. Instead of stopping da SUV to get da soda, she tried to reach down and get it. Hit a telephone pole and broke both her wrists.... and messed up her new vehicle bad.
Seems like cleaning up the Tab woulda been a lot cheaper and easier...
