Follow Up On Crazy Stanley

You might remember awhile back when we asked for tips on how to deal with Stanley when he comes out of the jail or clubhouse.  Mom said I should update everyone in case they had troubles too.
Here we are, waiting for dad to come open the door to the clubhouse.  I am pretty calm but Stanley gets so excited he goes crazy and attacks mom (last Sunday mom stayed in the house and Stanley tore dad's shirt right down the front!).
We've actually been doing this for several weeks but every now and again dad forgets the leash and Stanley gets to run loose while he is still crazy.  It makes me mad when he jumps all over mom and scratches her up and bites her hands and ankles.
You can see that Stanley is on leash.  I try to distract him by biting his legs.
Dad just walks around with Stanley on leash until he calms down.  Stanley is already a lot better!
Just yesterday Stanley calmed down in about 1 minute.  Once he is calm mom comes over to greet him and if he doesn't "wind up" again he gets off leash.  Mom and dad are hopeful that within the next few weeks the problem might just be solved!

I think you just have to stick to the same routine until in sinks in. Mollie, every time we open the back door, she flies out like a rocket, so we have to take her out on the leash, then when calm, let her off.Keep us posted. xx00xx

Oh Stanley, you wild and crazy dood! Good thing you are good, Murphy! We don't know if your mom and dad could handle two crazy doods! Glad it's going better though, the leash idea is good.

Have a great weekend!

Hmmmm, trying to figure out how we can use this trick when we get home. The issue is they are so crazy before we even open the door!

Best of Luck!

OMD Stanley you are really a live wire. We hope the training works. I use to bite my peeps ankles and hands which I thought was fun. Needless to say peeps didn't like it one bit. Eventually I calmed down. Have a fabulous Friday.
Best wishes Molly

Sometimes those brothers can be trouble. Good luck with your continued work on Stanley.

That is a great way to solve the problem. And it looks like it just might be working. Sometimes love can knock you over, and scratch you, and bite your ankles.
Blessings,
Goose

Hello to you, our adorable friends. You are both absolutely precious and we crabby girls believe the leash work will do the trick. Trust us when we say that nipping is a very very bad thing. POL

Wow that is a good idea. Charley is crazy nuts when he gets out of jail too, so I am thinking we will give this a try too. Thank you for sharing!

Maggie acts the very same way when mom gets home from work, it takes her about 5 min. to calm down, mom tries to keep turning her back to her until she gets the hint...we are hoping so outgrows it with age, a walk would be great also....glad it is helping you guys out!

Sounds like you are making progress!! I am way better now when Dad holds me to get my nails done, but I still sometimes jump and bite at Mom when I want her attention. I guess we are all a work in progress!

What great news to hear. Stanley you are one lucky Doodle to have smart peeps who can figure out what you need when you don't even know what you need.

Murphy and Stanley be sure to give your mom extra gentle loving this weekend on Mother's Day

Sounds like it's all good! It's probably now just a habit--being crazy when getting out. And Stanley will learn to be a sensible pup like you.

Giz used to go bonkers when I came home but we've worked on it for a long time and he's pretty much in control now...I think part is cause he's gonna be 5 this year so he's not a kid anymore and part that when he went bonkers i would just ignore him till he calmed down...Hope Stanley learns his lessons soon for your poor mom's sake

Piper used to go nuts too. We always just ignored him like you are. He was looking for the attention.

LadyBug kind of has the same problem. It just takes a bit of time for them to settle down. We think Stanley will get it...if you just give it a little time! Jeanne, Chloe and LadyBug
